Morris Dancing

Owlswick Morris, a sociable all-age mixed group practising in Twyford Village Hall on Tuesday evenings, welcomes new members - no dance experience necessary!

The side was founded in 1982 by six friends, former Morris men, who practised at the now-closed Shoulder of Mutton pub in Owlswick, Bucks. In 1985 women joined them and after 40 years the side is still dancing, mainly in the Cotswold tradition, supported by the irresistible music of squeezeboxes, flute, drums and the occasional banjo or fiddle.

Owlswick is involved locally in several annual celebrations: orchard wassailing in January, spring’s arrival on May 1st, and Mummers’ Plays at Christmas, and is active at pubs, folk festivals and community events throughout the year.
